As I write Ken is lying on the couch singing through the hymnal. He started out with "It is Well with My Soul", "Like a River Glorious", and on he goes. He has been reading Scriptures out loud. It is sweet to see Him clinging to the truths found in the Word and passed down to us through the hymn writers through the ages. This morning our dear friend Monica Wood, after leaving our home about 11pm helping Maggie and me with wedding details, emailed a Scripture and words to a song. I wanted to share it with you. There is a recording by Steve Green that you may want to listen to for encouragement in your own life.
Cling (Shannon J. Wexelberg)
“Because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings. My soul clings to You:
Your right hand upholds me…” Psalm 63: 78
When the night is long
When I yearn for deep peace to come
I strain to hear Your song
But suddenly I know I’m not alone
For You settle over me
Dispelling all my fears
My Father, I know You are here
May Yours be the only smile I need to see
May You be the healing washing over me
With Your arms around me
Your peace surrounds me
And may it only be You
I cling to
I set out on this road
So many voices call to my soul
They try to fill my cup
But I have found, sweet Lord, that You’re my enough
So I’m staying close to You
You hold me to Your side
My Father, the joy of my life
Break any hold
This world has on me
I’m letting go
And I throw myself at Your feet
There’s just one thing
One single thing I need
To know the very One who formed me
TOTAL PRAISE
Lord, I will lift my eyes to the hills, Knowing my help is coming from You,
Your peace You give me in time of the storm
You are the source of my strength, You are the strength of my life,
I lift my hands in total praise to You
You are the source of my strength, You are the strength of my life,
I lift my hands in total praise to You
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen

We are clinging to the One who has the answers and knows the path of life laid out for us.
As we face the coming hurricane, Isaac, headed toward Baton Rouge right now, I am so grateful that I know the One who calms the storm. He is found in the center. When the wind and waves rage around us the eye of the storm is calm. Jesus is our peace, our focus, our hope, our help, our Strength.
Answered prayer - We had encouraging news this morning from the nurse at the oncologist. She called with the results of the CA19-A blood tests which is a tumor indicator test and a piece of the process of so many tests he has undergone in the last week. His result was 9 and she said that anything under 36 is good news. Praise God for more answered prayer.
Answered prayer -Also we were able to do Maggie's bridal portraits late yesterday. Despite the rain at our house it stayed clear at the home of Jeff and Edie Mitchell where the pictures were taken. We are so grateful. Sage Veach came out of retirement from wedding photography to do this for us and Ellen Lieux was a huge help as we moved through the beautiful grounds. It was such a blessing to get to do the portrait. She was stunning!
Our appointment for the preliminary PET scan results is at 2:40pm with Dr. McDonald. We are so grateful for all your prayers.
"So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you." I lift my praise to You, for "no human imagination can take in the startling revolutionary power, softly, subtly, but with irresistible sweep, that flows down from the crowned Christ amount grateful men and women...that flows through the lives of individuals wholly under the gracious influence of the Holy Spirit...through people who simply live in full-faced touch with Christ and who take that power as the need arises and the sovereign Holy Spirit leads." (adapted from S. D. Gordon)
What a privilege to be part of that vast army of prayer warriors who live in full faced touch with the Savior and move His mighty, powerful Hand to bring about the gracious purposes of our loving God. The same power the raised Christ from the dead lives within us as believers. Nothing is impossible with God!
As I close - Ken is singing Blessed Assurance -
'This is my story, this is my Song - praising my Savior all the day long....
We are clinging and singing in the shadow of His wings,
